About Our Regenerative Medicine Clinic In Naples, FL
Since 2008, the physicians at Bluetail Medical have been early pioneers of the use of regenerative medicine to treat orthopedic injury and conditions. In 2017, Dr. Luga Podesta, a pioneer in the field or regenerative medicine, created and spearheaded a new state-of-the-art orthopedic/musculoskeletal practice in Naples, FL that focuses on non-surgical, regenerative orthopedic and musculoskeletal medicine. Throughout his impressive career spanning three decades, Dr. Podesta has been dedicated to restoring his patients’ quality of life through non-surgical treatment of orthopedic, musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries to the shoulder, elbow, knee and spine. Prior to joining Bluetail Medical Group, Dr. Podesta served as the director of sports medicine at St. Charles Orthopedics in Port Jefferson, New York, has an extensive background working as a team physician and consultant for numerous professional and collegiate sports teams, in addition to the music and entertainment industries, and currently serves as a team physician for Southwest Florida’s and the ECHL’s Florida Everblades Hockey Team and a consultant to the Major League Baseball Umpires and World Baseball Classic. Dr. Podesta lectures nationally and internationally on topics related to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of injuries in the throwing athlete, on-field management of sports-related spine injuries, biologic cell-based therapies and regenerative medicine.
What Regenerative Orthopedic Treatments Are Provided?
Also known as Autologous Stem Cell Therapy, BMC is a procedure in which your body’s OWN bone marrow stem cells are extracted and then concentrated in an FDA-cleared device and injected into the area(s) of injury or chronic joint disease using ultrasound guidance to ensure exact placement. The concentration of stem cells works directly at the site of injury or degenerative joints/tissue to decrease pain, improve mobility, and can increase the healing potential of your body up to tenfold.
PRP is a concentration of your platelets (a part of your blood) obtained by spinning your whole blood in a special centrifuge. Platelets are what naturally begin the healing process in your body any time an injury occurs, releasing proteins that attract your body’s own stem cells to the injured area. The concentration of platelets in PRP allows your body to recognize the injury as a priority, thus leading to a quicker and more thorough healing process than your body is capable of doing on its own.
Who Can Benefit from Stem Cell Therapy and PRP?
From the “weekend warrior” with sprains and strains, to the professional athlete who requires a quick return to pain to the patient with osteoarthritis or degenerative conditions these innovative, minimally-invasive treatment options help avoid or delay more invasive surgical options.
What Ailments and Conditions Does Regenerative Medicine Treat?

- Osteoarthritis of the Knee, Hip, Shoulder, ankle, ect...

What Type of Results Can I Expect from Regenerative Medicine?
Dr. Podesta is an expert diagnostician, using a diagnostic ultrasound to evaluate muscle, ligament and tendon injuries, with the ability to evaluate the entire body and determine the abnormal function and movement patterns predisposing to injury and dysfunction. He takes great pride in his ability to quickly and safely return patients to the life they want to live, whether that is playing a sport or instrument, working or enjoying recreational activities. Most patients respond very well to his treatments and report a life of less pain and increased mobility.
